Lawrence on Breakfast Television!

Lawrence cooks up some
Potatoes and Asparagus

Asparagus is just coming into season here in Manitoba, and the new crop of potatoes are here, so this morning Lawrence went down to City TV to hang out with Larry McIntosh, President and CEO of Peak Of The Market and grill some up!

Last night marked the opening of the Luxalune Gastopub!
It's only 2 doors down from Luxsolé, with some of the same food, but more of a comfortable cool pub than a comfortable cool restaurant.

Eugene got engaged!!

Dancing in Ixtapa, Mexico
New Year's Eve '07!

Hi everyone! Pamela and I got engaged on September long weekend at her family cottage! It was a beautiful setting at Lake of the Woods; as well, the cottage holds a very special place in Pamela's heart, so I knew it would be the perfect place to propose. We're planning an early May wedding.

Being able to celebrate our engagement with family around us made it a memorable weekend - we're very thankful for that! We'd also like to thank everyone for the many messages and calls of well wishes; it means a lot to us.

Farm Update

We had a successful harvest season with our hay crop this year! As anyone with a farming background knows well, nothing is every guaranteed when dealing with nature. As well, marketing hay in today's business climate with high fuel costs, lingering effects from the BSE crisis and the volatility of supply and demand in this industry makes it very difficult. Click on the link below to read Lawrence's full account of this season.

Check out our new signs!

Our new signs feature compositions of images that connect Luxsolé with our farm background. On the left side is an illustration of a Manitoba Pool grain elevator, on the right side is a photo of our Allis-Chalmers WD tractor that we grew up riding, and in the middle is a fun "crop circle" illustration of our Luxsolé logo!

We have galvanized steel sleeves as borders that add a slight farm/industrial feel that looks awesome at night! The signs are made of the newest material in aluminum printing called Dybond - it's lightweight, weatherproof and will last an extremely long time. Here's a photo of Chris and Lawrence gettin' 'er done!

Vanessa Kuzina CD release sell-out success!!

Vanessa Kuzina showcased her debut CD, "Peony", for an appreciative sell-out crowd at the West End Cultural Centre, Saturday, June 16th! A large contingent of Luxsolé'ers, friends and family and also many Winnipeg music scene afficianados were dazzled by Vanessa's full-band sound.
The audience was enthralled with her songs and Vanessa says that she definitely shares that sentiment.

"We played through the entire album, sharing with the audience my true vision for my ten songs. The energy from the 300+ person audience overwhelmed me with love and as I felt everyone of those people I couldn't help but feel so grateful and lucky with my community of people!"

"It is bittersweet in some ways that the cd release has come and gone. I have devoted this last year to the production and execution of Peony and the CD release, and it sure has been an adventure. Sometimes with difficult patches, lots of ups and downs but always feeling like I was following a dream. And a dream it has been - what a journey! And I couldn't have done it without the care, love, support and encouragement of my amazing family, friends and colleagues. Thank you!", she adds.

Peony is a ten-song, full length independent release. All songs are written by Vanessa Kuzina and produced by Juno award-winning producer Dan Donahue. The CDs are $20 and available at Music Trader in Osborne Village, Candor Books and Music on Provencher, the Wpg Folk Festival Music Store in Old Market Square, McNally Robinson Grant Park and of course at Luxsolé!

Way to go, Vanessa... we're all extremely proud of you and we know there's gonna be lots of new fans in the future!

If you want to hear some refreshing and evocative music, come out to the West End on June 16 and experience the full-band sound of Vanessa Kuzina...LIVE!

New washrooms and other news...

This is the most current working copy...
let us know what you think or if you have any suggestions!

We are busy renovating our washrooms! Work was done late into the night to tear out the old flooring, install beautiful black ceramic tile and get it ready for the plumber to install new fixtures today.

We are currently re-designing the "covers" that attach to the frames of our Luxsolé signage on the front of our building. Two years ago, we utilized an innovative printing process in a slightly different way. This new process allows a designer to print graphics on virtually any surface. Instead of replacing the awning completely, we printed our design on chloroplast plastic sheets and attached them right onto the frames. This gives us signage that has a great "wow!" look for an incredible price! These awning "covers" have a shelf-life of a few years before they become too weathered, which gives us an excellent opportunity to put up fresh new signage on a regular basis.

We are working on another panoramic, three-piece picture of our actual farm featuring our "iconic" Allis-Chalmers WD tractor on one side and a motif of an old Manitoba Pool Elevator that existed in almost every small town across Western Canada on the other side.

In other Luxsolé news, we welcome local Berkshire pork producer Mark Hadaway to our group of Luxsolé Suppliers. Mark, a young, Dauphin-area producer, is working hard to raise the profile of this interesting heritage breed in Manitoba. Comparing the taste of Berkshire pork to mass-produced factory farm pork is like comparing farm-raised, free-range chicken roasted in a wood-fired oven to Chicken McNuggets!
Which do you think tastes better?

Our first dish featuring this flavourful meat is Berkshire Pork Skewers, a new feature on our Tapas menu.
